Role overview

CORDE is seeking a Wastewater Operator to join its Water Services team in Rolleston. The business supports major horizontal infrastructure work across the South Island, with long-running maintenance contracts in Canterbury and civil projects being delivered across the region.

This opportunity is available in both wastewater reticulation and wastewater treatment. In a reticulation-focused position, you may spend your time travelling through the Selwyn district to service pumps and other mechanical assets. In a treatment-focused position, you may use technical knowledge to carry out laboratory testing and review treatment processes. The team is open to finding the best match for the successful candidate.

What the role involves

• Maintaining pumps and related mechanical equipment across the reticulation network.
• Working within a treatment plant environment when aligned to that stream of the role.
• Carrying out laboratory checks and evaluating treatment process performance.
• Contributing to the reliability and success of water services operations.
• Following direction, instructions, and safety procedures while working in a physically active role.

What you need to bring

This position suits someone who is keen to learn, brings energy and a positive attitude, and can handle a demanding physical workload. You should be safety-focused, quick to pick up new tasks, and comfortable taking instruction from others.

• Experience in wastewater, or a Level 4 Wastewater qualification, would be an advantage.
• A current Class 1 driver licence is required.
• A practical, mechanically minded approach is important because the work includes mechanical repair tasks.
• You should be dependable and comfortable working across a range of different tasks.
• Physical fitness and self-motivation are essential.
• A strong commitment to health and safety, combined with a positive attitude, is expected.
