Utility Locate Technician

About the role

ELM Utility Services is hiring a Utility Locate Technician for the Grand Island, Nebraska area. The organization employs more than 1,700 people across the country and relies on technicians to help keep gas, electric, and communication networks safe and dependable. In this position, you will carry out utility marking work that helps prevent damage during excavation. The role uses LaunchPoint software, a modern system designed to improve efficiency in daily field operations. Pay for this position starts at $22.00 to $30.00 per hour, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Work independently outdoors with your assigned vehicle serving as a mobile office.
• Complete a daily route of locate requests.
• Identify and mark underground utilities carefully, safely, and accurately using marking paint, flags, and, when needed, whiskers.
• Use a mobile work system to receive and manage daily assignments.

What the employer is looking for

• Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening, motor vehicle record review, and background check.
• Willingness to work in a safety-sensitive DOT-regulated position and follow all applicable U.S. Department of Transportation rules.
• Understanding that marijuana use, whether medical or recreational, is not permitted for this role.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license.
