Description de l'emploi

About Roku

Roku is a leading TV streaming platform across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, with a goal of powering television experiences worldwide. The company built one of the first streaming-to-TV platforms and works to connect viewers with content, help publishers grow and monetize audiences, and give advertisers effective ways to reach consumers.

Roku is a fast-growing public company where individual contributors are expected to make an immediate impact. The environment is highly collaborative, pace-driven, and designed for people who want to solve real problems and help shape how millions of people stream TV.

About the Team

Technical Operations serves as the platform’s frontline support function. This global, always-on team protects the health and reliability of The Roku Channel, live and on-demand content systems, ad delivery, and the user experience across Roku products. The team works closely with Engineering, Content, Live Operations, and Advertising to handle live issues, support major launches, and improve automation and tooling at scale.

About the Role

The Technical Operations Manager will lead engineers responsible for monitoring, triaging, and resolving platform issues around the clock. The role combines hands-on incident leadership with people management, launch coordination, and process improvement. It also serves as a key escalation contact for partner teams such as Engineering, Content Operations, Live Operations, Advertising, and Rights Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coach a distributed team of Technical Operations Engineers, including contractors across multiple time zones.
  • Supervise 24/7 platform monitoring through the Technical Operations Control Center, making sure alerts are handled quickly and accurately.
  • Own the full incident response flow, from first review and escalation to communication, recovery, and post-incident analysis.
  • Track and enforce service-level commitments across priority levels while keeping technical and business stakeholders updated.
  • Run war rooms for P0 and P1 launches, including readiness checks, runbook preparation, and coordination on launch day.
  • Work with CDN partners and internal teams on capacity planning ahead of high-visibility events.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to prioritize production defects, improve platform reliability, and reduce repetitive operational work.
  • Lead automation efforts that cut down manual monitoring, simplify escalation paths, and improve team throughput.
  • Partner with Content Operations, Live Operations, Advertising Operations, Platform Operations, and Engineering to keep delivery and issue resolution running smoothly.
  • Represent Technical Operations in launch planning and make sure the team is involved at least 30 days before major events.
  • Build and maintain escalation procedures, runbooks, and operational documentation.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in technical or platform operations within streaming, media, or consumer technology.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading technical teams, including remote or contractor-based groups.
  • Strong knowledge of ad delivery operations, including ad fill-rate monitoring and SSAI/client-side insertion workflows.
  • Practical experience with observability and alerting platforms such as Datadog, PagerDuty, or similar tools.
  • Proven ability to handle high-pressure incident triage and cross-functional escalation across both engineering and business teams.
  • Experience preparing for live or high-profile launches, including war room leadership and ownership of runbooks.
  • Solid understanding of CDN architecture and video-streaming capacity planning.
  • Ability to explain technical issues in a way that clearly communicates business impact to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated success in building or improving automation to reduce manual operational load.
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, and coordination skills in an always-on environment.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call coverage, including evenings and weekends for critical launches and incidents.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when needed to meet deadlines and support essential operations.
