Role overview
Swan Global is seeking a seasoned Switchgear Testing & Commissioning Engineer for a project in Doha, Qatar. This position calls for practical expertise in testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and energising MV/LV switchgear across industrial, utility, and Oil & Gas environments.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out testing and commissioning activities for MV and LV switchgear as well as MCC panels.
- Test protection relays, with Siemens SIPROTEC experience preferred, and verify control circuits, interlocks, and SCADA interfaces.
- Perform primary and secondary injection tests, insulation resistance checks, contact resistance measurements, timing tests, and circuit breaker evaluations.
- Diagnose electrical faults and assist with safe energisation of systems.
- Check wiring against approved drawings and produce commissioning records and supporting documentation.
- Follow IEC requirements, project-specific standards, and HSE protocols throughout all work.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering is required.
- Applicants should have 5 to 8 years of overall testing and commissioning experience.
- At least 3 years of that experience must be from substations, utilities, industrial facilities, or Oil & Gas projects.
- Direct, hands-on exposure to Siemens switchgear will be an advantage.
- Working knowledge of Omicron CMC, Megger, primary/secondary injection sets, circuit breaker analysers, and micro-ohm meters is expected.
- Familiarity with IEC/IEEE standards, PTW systems, and LOTO practices is needed.
- A valid Qatar ID and the ability to join immediately are preferred.

This is a 1-year contract that may be extended depending on project requirements.
