Role overview
Higgins is hiring a permanent, full-time STMS to support its Traffic Management team. The position is based at the Morrinsville Depot and involves practical, on-the-ground work to make sure temporary traffic management is established correctly, road users are kept informed, and work areas remain safe throughout the day.
Although the Traffic team operates from the Hamilton branch, the role will require travel and work across Higgins depots and branch locations throughout the Waikato region.
What you will do
- Install, oversee, and dismantle temporary traffic management arrangements on active worksites
- Prepare, review, and refresh Traffic Management Plans so they meet required standards
- Direct traffic using stop/go systems, signage, and traffic signals where needed
- Keep watch on site safety, spot hazards, and act quickly to reduce risks
- Maintain accurate daily records, paperwork, and site reports
- Communicate effectively with members of the public, work crews, and supervisors about site operations
What you need to bring
- A current STMS Category B Practising qualification
- NZTA TTM Worker certification plus relevant traffic control training
- At least 2 years of experience in roading or traffic management settings
- A valid Class 2 driver's licence
- Construction Safe Tier 1 certification is preferred
- Good knowledge of safe working methods and site compliance requirements
- Strong communication skills and comfort dealing with the public
- A steady, dependable manner and the ability to step in when required
- Willingness to participate in an on-call roster
