The role
PowerVR’s team develops a leading family of extremely low-power GPU IP cores. The architecture group is expanding and is seeking GPU specialists to help shape the next generations of PowerVR GPU architecture. In this position, you’ll work closely with senior company leadership to define the GPU roadmap and contribute to the architecture of upcoming GPU products. What you will do
- Collaborate with a small, highly motivated GPU architecture team focused on efficiency.
- Track market and industry developments and assess how they affect GPU direction.
- Engage with stakeholders to capture new ideas and product requirements.
- Own the investigation, definition, and delivery of detailed architectural feature specifications.
- Carry out in-depth analysis to arrive at solutions that satisfy power, performance, area, and bandwidth targets.
- Partner with the research group to translate new algorithms into efficient implementations.
- Work with modelling specialists to assess new concepts and establish performance goals.
- Support the product organization in building a forward-looking technology roadmap that improves PPA and features with each generation.
- Assist implementation teams during design and verification.
- Review completed implementations with the performance team and validate power, performance, area, and bandwidth results.
- Take part in engineering reviews and suggest improvements.
- Contribute to the long-term technology direction of the business.
- Work with major customers and relevant industry standards groups, including Khronos, when needed.
- File patents for your inventions.
About you

What you should bring
- Background in GPU architecture or other large, complex systems.
- Working knowledge of modern 3D graphics and/or compute APIs such as Vulkan, D3D12, and OpenCL.
- Understanding of digital ASIC design methods and constraints.
- Ability to plan, estimate, and monitor your own work.
- Proven experience independently leading architecture exploration work through to concrete and appropriate feature specifications.
- Awareness of design and verification challenges, with the ability to make trade-offs that improve engineering return on investment.
- Ability to explain technical topics clearly and defend decisions to different audiences.
Nice to have
- Strong mathematical and algorithmic ability.
- Experience with digital video.
- Experience creating micro-architecture specifications.
- Experience analysing performance using hardware waves.
- Experience analysing driver and compiler performance.
- Understanding of functional safety standards such as ISO26262.
