This Senior Accountant role is based in Doha, Qatar and centers on managing core accounting activities, including payables, receivables, general ledger work, trial balance preparation, reconciliations, payment processing, fixed assets, and month-end close.
Key responsibilities
- Handle accounts payable processing end to end, including invoice entry, checking approvals, and confirming the presence of all required backup documents.
- Support month-end close activities by reconciling the accounts payable trial balance and ensuring the figures are accurate and complete.
- Coordinate monthly and annual closing consolidation and assist the Financial Control Manager with annual report preparation in line with IFRS.
- Review and prepare accounts payable reports and related financial data promptly and with high accuracy.
- Keep the billing process running smoothly by issuing invoices and bills with clear payment terms, due dates, amounts, payment methods, and outstanding balances.
- Track cash and cheque payment information for bank deposits.
- Reconcile accounts receivable so that all incoming payments are properly captured on weekly, monthly, and yearly cycles.
- Prepare financial statements and reports covering paid and unpaid invoices, bank deposit records, active account status, ageing analysis, and collection performance on weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual schedules using IFRS standards.
- Maintain the general ledger and post journal entries for accruals and variances.
- Carry out month-end close tasks and related reconciliations for accounting records.
- Ensure all entries posted to the general ledger comply with IFRS requirements.
- Produce monthly trial balance reports.
- Support quarterly and year-end audit processes.
Qualifications and requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in finance or a closely related discipline is required.
- At least 3 years of experience in a finance-related role is needed.
- Strong time management and organisational ability is important.
- The role calls for solid analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Good numerical and quantitative ability is expected.
- Customer service mindset is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Advanced Excel capability is necessary.
- Fluency in both Arabic and English is required.
Additional information
This role involves working with IFRS-based reporting, audit support, reconciliations, and monthly closing activities. It is a full-time onsite position in Doha, Qatar.
