Role overview

Microsoft’s 365 Copilot Windows App team is building the next generation of AI-powered productivity on Windows. The focus of the role is to create intelligent, multimodal experiences that are deeply integrated into the operating system and designed for massive scale. This position is suited to engineers who want to help shape how people interact with their devices using voice, vision, context-aware agents, and MCP-enabled workflows.

As a member of the Microsoft 365 Copilot India team, you will contribute to the flagship Microsoft 365 Copilot app on Windows and help deliver features that affect users across Windows, Office, and Azure. The work combines product thinking, strong engineering practices, and practical AI implementation.

Key work areas

• Create smart features that use voice, camera, and screen context to help users in real time.
• Develop and improve agentic workflows with MCP so tasks can be completed automatically across different applications and services.
• Take ownership of critical AI features from planning and design through implementation, rollout, and monitoring.
• Partner with teams across Windows, Office, and Azure to build smooth, high-performance user experiences.
• Improve engineering quality through automated testing, sound design, and continuous feedback loops.

Required qualifications

The role calls for a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent field, along with at least 3 years of software development experience. Candidates should have hands-on experience with C, C++, and Windows application development. Strong analytical ability, the capacity to build efficient algorithms and data structures, and the confidence to independently deliver medium to complex features are important. Experience with agile development and large commercial product release cycles is also expected. Exposure to multimodal inputs such as voice or vision, or to AI-driven user experiences, is considered an advantage.

Other requirements

Applicants must be able to satisfy Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements for the role. This includes passing the Microsoft Cloud background check at the time of hire or transfer and again every two years after that.
