Role overview
One Federal Solution is hiring a Social Science Data Analyst to support federal research work focused on personnel security and financial risk. In this position, you will combine qualitative and quantitative methods to study data, prepare technical materials, and help translate findings into practical recommendations for policy, program review, and strategic decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Perform applied social science research on personnel security and indicators of financial risk.
- Contribute to qualitative and quantitative studies, including interviews with stakeholders, literature reviews, and data gathering.
- Work with SPSS and similar statistical tools to examine datasets and interpret results.
- Create and help refine technical reports, APA-formatted research documents, briefing decks, and meeting summaries.
- Support the design and implementation of structured research approaches and analytical models.
- Partner with senior economists to review and explain statistical outcomes.
- Collect and organize input from subject matter experts, adjudicators, and policy stakeholders into clear recommendations and insights.
- Travel locally within the DMV area as required for meetings, research tasks, and stakeholder coordination.
- Provide research and analytical support for program assessment, policy analysis, and decision-making efforts.
Requirements
- An active DoD Secret clearance is mandatory.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant social science discipline is preferred; relevant experience may be considered in place of formal education.
- At least 2 to 3 years of professional experience in social science or behavioral research.
- Background in a Department of Defense or federal government setting is strongly preferred, especially exposure to personnel security processes.
- Hands-on experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research using tools such as SPSS.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare reports, summaries, and APA-style documentation.
- Effective collaboration and verbal communication skills.

Additional information
This position is based in Washington, DC and requires onsite work. Local travel within the DMV region may be needed. An active DoD Secret clearance is required before or at the time of employment.
