Role Overview
This position reports to the Herd Test Service Manager and sits within the Operations & Service Group. The main purpose of the job is to keep herd testing and animal health instruments running reliably through effective servicing and maintenance. The work follows established maintenance schedules and quality standards, with a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency. A level of shift work is part of the role, and access to reliable transport outside public transport hours may be necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Deal with equipment failures quickly and systematically, including occasional work outside normal hours.
- Carry out servicing of equipment according to maintenance plans and quality system requirements.
- Perform regular checks on plant and machinery while coordinating with operators and supervisors.
- Keep accurate records of service work and report activities in line with laboratory procedures.
- Spot non-conformances, take corrective action, and complete reports without delay.
- Offer technical input, assistance, and guidance to operations teams.
- Assist technicians working at other Testlink sites when needed.
- Follow all health and safety obligations at all times.
- Oversee spare parts to ensure maintenance requirements are met.
- Work closely each day with milk testing and animal health supervisors.
- Help the Service Manager and Laboratory Manager keep operations running smoothly.
Skills and Experience
- Clear written and verbal communication abilities.
- Hands-on experience with servicing analytical and laboratory equipment.
- Capability to perform complete equipment rebuilds to manufacturer specifications.
- Strong computer skills, including diagnosing issues through PC-based service software and networks.
- A trade qualification together with a tertiary engineering certificate, or equivalent practical experience.
- Working understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programmes and precise data entry/record-keeping.
- Knowledge of supply chains and spare parts management.
- Ability to work on your own and manage priorities effectively.
- Good teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Strong time management.
