Role overview
The Ministry of Education New Zealand is looking for a permanent Service Desk Analyst to join its Manukau-based support team. This position focuses on delivering practical IT service desk help to internal users and supporting the wider education system through reliable, customer-focused technology assistance.
The organisation’s purpose is to help create an education system that produces fair and excellent outcomes. The team includes people from many backgrounds and cultures across Aotearoa, all working toward making a meaningful difference for learners.
What the role involves
You will provide hands-on support for a wide range of business technologies and help resolve day-to-day IT issues quickly and professionally. The work includes supporting mobile devices, remote access tools, Microsoft applications, desktop and application issues, printing, Exchange, internet connectivity, hardware faults, and user security matters. Onsite assistance may also be required when needed.
This is a role for someone who enjoys working in a busy, high-volume environment, brings curiosity and initiative, and approaches challenges with a practical, solution-oriented mindset.
About you
The ideal candidate is energetic, customer-driven, and confident engaging with users. You should have strong communication skills, good attention to detail, and a genuine interest in technology and continuous learning. A solid understanding of Microsoft operating systems, administrative tools, and MS Office applications is important, along with broader awareness of how IT solutions support business needs.
You must also be able to work in line with Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
Team context
You will be part of the Digital Solution Support team, which helps keep systems, infrastructure, networks, and related processes available and supported so Digital Services can meet the needs of customers and stakeholders.

This is a permanent full-time position based in Manukau, New Zealand. The starting salary is NZD 62,681 per year plus KiwiSaver. Applications close at midnight on Thursday, 09 July 2026.
