Overview
This role supports ballpark safety during overnight hours. The officer is responsible for helping maintain a secure environment for guests, employees, contractors, and visitors while working in the Security and Transportation department and reporting to the Ballpark Security Manager. Key Duties
- Patrol the entire ballpark property as needed and help ensure a courteous, professional security presence for employees, contracted building partners, and visitors.
- React to safety or criminal matters as they occur, following training and policy, and involve emergency services when the situation calls for it.
- Carry out thorough internal reviews of incidents and prepare clear, factual reports for each shift or event.
- When assigned to the loading dock, inspect incoming vehicles, match deliveries to schedules, verify driver identification, and record all deliveries.
- Monitor and use CCTV, access control, and fire alarm systems.
- Attend pre-shift briefings to stay informed about ballpark events, including load-ins and load-outs.
- Serve as a first responder for alarms, medical situations, property damage, and related incidents.
- Keep sensitive information confidential at all times.
- Maintain accurate notes and logs and make sure shift handoff information is communicated properly to the next team.
- Complete activity logs, incident reports, repair forms, and other required paperwork promptly and legibly.
- Welcome clients, employees, guests, and vendors at Petco Park in a professional manner.
- Follow all established ballpark security protocols and procedures.
- Work with other departments to support positive public visibility for the Club.
- Represent the Club professionally at all times.
- Perform any additional duties assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Dependable attendance with punctuality and consistency.
- Strong discretion, integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
- Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel and the public.
- Ability to use sound judgment and initiative within established guidelines.
- Comfortable working collaboratively and respectfully with others.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Report-writing experience is helpful; familiarity with Motorola Solutions Avigilon CCTV systems is a plus.
- Prior experience in a large event or public assembly venue is advantageous but not required.
- Training in criminal justice or security from a recognized academy, school, or organization is helpful but not mandatory.
- Previous law enforcement, public safety, or military experience is a plus.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are an added advantage.
Requirements
- Must hold a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record, subject to review.
- Must be available for five flexible 8-hour shifts per week, scheduled between 9:00 PM and 5:30 AM, from Saturday through Friday depending on operational needs, Padres games, and special events.
- Must be willing to work overtime, including weekends and holidays, as required.
- Must already have a BSIS Proprietary Security Guard certification or BSIS Guard Card, or obtain one within the first 30 days of employment.
- Must pass all post-offer and pre-employment checks, including a background check.
Compensation and Benefits
The base hourly wage for this role is $21.14. Pay may vary depending on experience, education, relevant skills, and other hiring considerations.
