Security Guard Full-Time

Role Overview

This position is for a Security Guard stationed at a client location in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. The role focuses on protecting people, property, and site operations through active monitoring, access control, patrols, and incident response.

Key Duties

• Monitor the assigned site, note unusual activity or incidents, and report findings to support the safety of client property and personnel.
• Carry out routine patrols to identify irregularities and inspect security devices and fire protection equipment.
• Help maintain order and enforce site rules and directives related to staff, visitors, and the premises.
• Manage entry to the client site or facility by following the admission process.
• Patrol the property on foot or by vehicle and check for unsafe conditions, hazards, open doors, security breaches, blocked access points, mechanical issues, and unauthorized individuals.
• Protect evidence or incident scenes in cases involving accidents, emergencies, or security investigations.
• Respond to incidents such as fire, medical emergencies, bomb threats, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergencies, hazardous materials, severe weather, and similar situations.
• Complete logs and reports as required.
• Perform any additional duties or adjusted responsibilities as needed based on business requirements.

Job Requirements

• Must be able to see, hear, speak, and write clearly, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Should be able to occasionally reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
• Must be capable of sitting, standing, and walking for long periods.
• May need to climb stairs, walk on slopes, and move across uneven ground.
• Must be able to frequently lift or move up to 10 lbs and occasionally up to 25 lbs.
• Must meet and keep all licensing requirements applicable to security guards.
• Must have a valid driver’s licence.
• Must have access to a dependable personal vehicle.
• Must be able to travel independently to assigned locations approximately 25–35 km from the city.
