Security Analyst I

Role overview

This role sits within Mandiant Threat Defense’s Security Operations Center and focuses on advanced investigation work rather than simple alert checking. You will help defend against active threats by examining security events in depth, using Google SecOps and Mandiant threat intelligence to uncover sophisticated attacks such as malicious USB-borne threats and phishing campaigns linked to nation-state actors. The position is part of Google Cloud’s cybersecurity organization, where the team works to improve detection, automate repetitive tasks, and strengthen security operations.

Mandiant is known for its experience in cyber defense, threat intelligence, and incident response, supporting organizations facing complex breaches and advanced adversaries. The role is based in Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, and is a full-time onsite position.

What you will do

• Review live security activity across endpoint, network, and cloud sources through a centralized analyst interface and SIEM/Google SecOps tools.
• Perform host and network forensic analysis to support incident response, understand attacker behavior, and evaluate the effect on customers.
• Carry out basic static and dynamic analysis of suspicious files to identify what they can do, including examples such as GOOTLOADER JavaScript and CORNFLAKE.V3 backdoors.
• Assess the seriousness, reach, and business impact of incidents and security breaches.
• Contain compromised systems and help prevent lateral movement or ransomware from spreading.

Minimum qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in a SOC or information security role.

Preferred qualifications

• Hands-on experience with scripting.
• Exposure to artificial intelligence in a security or technical context.

Compensation and benefits

The Ireland compensation range is €68,000 to €70,000 annually, with a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits. Pay is determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Google also notes that benefits are available through its standard employee benefits program.
