Rubrics Expert

Role Overview

This remote hourly contract opportunity is for a Rubrics Expert who can build and improve structured scoring systems for a variety of assessment needs. The role is designed for a commitment of 10 to 40 hours each week and focuses on creating fair, clear, and reliable evaluation frameworks.

What You Will Do

• Create well-structured scoring rubrics that can be adapted to different subjects and assessment formats.
• Shape and improve scoring methods so they are easy to understand, consistent, and aligned with assessment goals.
• Run calibration sessions with evaluators and subject matter experts to strengthen scoring consistency across reviewers.
• Test assessments through pilots, review the results, and use quality checks to refine the rubric system.
• Study performance data to spot patterns and suggest practical improvements to the rubrics.
• Build feedback structures that turn rubric results into clear guidance for learning and performance growth.
• Work closely with instructional designers, educators, and other stakeholders to improve assessment quality and overall effectiveness.

What We Need

• Hands-on background in creating and applying assessment rubrics.
• Strong understanding of scoring approaches, calibration practices, and validation techniques.
• Ability to interpret performance data and use it to improve assessment design.
• Experience with quality control in structured evaluation workflows.
• Strong writing and speaking skills, along with a sharp eye for detail.
• Capability to translate rubric results into feedback that is practical and easy to act on.
• Self-managed work style, good organization, and comfort working remotely with a team.
