Risk Journal Reporter

About the role

Dow Jones Risk Journal is looking for a seasoned reporter to cover worldwide issues in risk, compliance, and regulation that affect companies and financial institutions. This role is suited to a versatile journalist who is comfortable covering areas such as sanctions, export controls, anti-corruption, financial crime, geopolitics, cybersecurity, climate risk, and supply-chain disruptions, or who is eager to build deep expertise in these topics.

The reporter will produce daily news coverage, longer-form features, and contributions to the daily WSJ Morning Risk Report newsletter. The publication serves risk, compliance, and legal professionals, along with business leaders who are responsible for identifying, managing, and reducing risk.

What the role involves

You will be expected to build strong source networks, particularly among compliance specialists, regulators, and policymakers, while also breaking news, interpreting developments, and developing enterprise stories with real impact. The job requires the ability to translate complex issues into clear, useful reporting that helps readers understand events and apply insights in their day-to-day work.

The newsroom is looking for someone who can think strategically about audience needs, provide practical takeaways for risk and compliance teams, and use visuals or data when they strengthen the story. Occasional extra responsibilities may include moderating live journalism interviews and representing the publication in media appearances.

A successful candidate should already have a history of leading coverage in a beat, influencing the agenda, informing readers, and delivering high-quality stories with clear impact.
