Role overview

Alstom is hiring a Quantity Surveyor for its Cork, Ireland location on a permanent basis. The role is intended to support the Commercial Manager and/or Lead Quantity Surveyor in protecting project margin, reducing commercial exposure, and ensuring all work is delivered in line with Alstom’s policies and procedures.

Commercial responsibilities

  • Manage the client payment process through to final account and project change account, helping maximise revenue, protect margin, and support healthy cash flow.
  • Oversee subcontract accounts from project launch through final account, with accurate liability reporting and payments made in line with contractual and legal obligations.
  • Help the project team understand contract terms, especially the rights and responsibilities of each party.
  • Maintain up-to-date records in project systems covering progress, delays, and controlled change, including event registers and entitlement records.
  • Collect elemental cost and measurement data to support accurate financial assessment of the project.
  • Take part in monthly project reviews and work package management reviews, highlighting savings opportunities and delivery improvements.
  • Support the commercial strategy and advise commercial managers and project teams on commercial matters.
  • Build effective working relationships with clients, project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Review commercial systems and processes to support continuous improvement and best practice.
  • Meet environment, health, and safety obligations, contribute to safety briefings, and record close calls and safety discussions.

  • Awareness of conflict avoidance, dispute management, and resolution procedures.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work clearly with project peers.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
