Quality Analyst II

Role overview

Modea is hiring a Quality Analyst II to help safeguard the quality of digital products built for healthcare clients. In this role, you will act as both a consultant and an investigative tester, connecting technical requirements with real user needs to uncover defects, reduce risk, and strengthen product reliability.

This position is suited to someone who is curious, systematic, and proactive about quality. You should be comfortable partnering with clients and internal teams, digging into complex issues, and thinking beyond surface-level bugs to understand the underlying cause. The role also calls for a forward-looking mindset, including interest in using AI and automation to improve the testing process.

What you will do

• Assess product risk early by learning the application deeply and advising clients and project teams on quality-focused actions.
• Use exploratory testing and strong analytical judgment to locate defects across browsers and devices, then investigate the root cause.
• Represent the end user by making sure functionality, visual design, and ADA accessibility standards are upheld.
• Build and run performance checks with JMeter to evaluate load behavior and system stability.
• Test APIs to confirm accurate and reliable data flow between services.
• Review web applications for common security weaknesses and basic security compliance concerns.
• Create, maintain, and improve automated tests with tools such as Mabl and Appium.
• Use AI-enabled tools thoughtfully to make the testing workflow more efficient and effective.
• Write clear bug reports and practical technical guides that help developers and stakeholders act quickly.
• Promote quality best practices throughout the SDLC, from discovery through post-launch validation.

Required background

• At least 2 years of context-driven testing experience, or an equivalent educational background.
• A bachelor’s degree in IT, Management, Marketing, or a closely related discipline, or comparable experience.

Preferred experience and capabilities

• Prior work in healthcare or in a consulting environment.
• Hands-on exposure to JMeter and API testing tools such as Postman.
• Working knowledge of web security basics, accessibility standards, and automated testing practices.
• Experience with test modeling, structured test design, and mind maps.
• Familiarity with Rapid Software Testing and AI-assisted testing workflows.

Work location and setup

Employees may work from anywhere in Virginia, Tennessee, or North Carolina unless the duties require otherwise. Modea also has a modern office in Blacksburg, Virginia. The company supports fully office-based, fully remote, and hybrid arrangements. Travel to offices or other locations may occasionally be needed for training or client visits, and the company supplies tools for working both at home and in the office.

Physical requirements

This job requires the ability to stay seated for long periods, use a computer continuously, and communicate with clients and coworkers in person and through digital tools. Occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 10 lbs may also be required.
