Role overview
A well-established manufacturer in the sustainable timber construction materials sector is hiring a Project Engineer for its engineering function at a major production site in Clonmel, Tipperary. The role will be centered on delivering process and capital projects across the facility, partnering with operations, maintenance, and site leadership to improve efficiency, support innovation, and strengthen continuous improvement in a large industrial environment.
Key responsibilities
- Take process-focused capital projects from early concept stages through commissioning and final handover.
- Work with internal stakeholders to clarify project scope and shape practical technical solutions.
- Own project planning, purchasing, budget control, and allocation of people and resources.
- Prepare tender packs and oversee the work of external contractors and suppliers.
- Make sure all project activity aligns with safety, environmental, quality, and compliance requirements.
- Offer technical guidance to operations and maintenance teams when needed.
- Create technical drawings, design schematics, and supporting project records.
- Contribute to engineering enhancements and new ideas across the plant.
Required profile
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field is required.
- At least 5 years of project delivery experience in manufacturing or another heavy industrial environment.
- Good working knowledge of project management tools and systems.
- Hands-on experience with CAD or similar technical design software.
- Exposure to process engineering would be beneficial.
- Ability to juggle several priorities in a busy industrial setting.
- A strong problem-solving approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
