About the role
The National University of Malaysia – Qatar (UKM Qatar) is seeking applications from accomplished and seasoned professionals for a Professor position in Actuarial Science at its Doha campus. The appointment is intended for an academic leader who can contribute strongly to teaching, research, student mentoring, and university development.
Key responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate actuarial science subjects, including financial mathematics, probability, actuarial mathematics, risk theory, stochastic processes, actuarial modelling, and related areas.
- Guide students in preparation for professional actuarial exams such as SOA Exam FM, Exam P, LTAM, and STAM.
- Contribute to curriculum design and academic programme development.
- Supervise postgraduate students and support their academic progress.
- Build and maintain a strong research profile through publications and scholarly work.
- Provide academic leadership and help advance the institution’s teaching and research standards.
- Support student learning through effective mentoring, communication, and engagement.
Required profile
- Doctoral qualification in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Risk Management, or a closely allied discipline.
- Demonstrated university-level teaching experience.
- Ability to teach actuarial science courses at undergraduate level.
- Strong grounding in actuarial studies, mathematics, statistics, computing, economics, and finance.
- Experience helping students prepare for actuarial professional examinations.
- Established record of research and scholarly publication.
- Prior involvement in curriculum development, postgraduate supervision, and academic leadership.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and mentoring abilities.
- Commitment to academic quality, innovation in teaching, and student achievement.
