Description de l'emploi
Role overview
His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) is hiring prison officers for HMP Full Sutton. This is a fast-moving role where you will help protect the public, support safer custodial operations, and contribute to positive change in people’s lives.
The salary for this position is £33,746 to £38,003.
What the role involves
No two days in this role are the same. Depending on the situation, you may be acting as a calm authority figure, offering guidance, or supporting learning and rehabilitation. You will work directly with prisoners in a secure environment and play a part in keeping staff, offenders, and the wider public safe.
Who this role suits
HMPPS is looking for people with strong integrity, confidence, emotional awareness, and clear communication skills. Applicants can come from many different backgrounds, including parenting, teaching, retail, or the armed forces. The key is being able to build professional, constructive relationships with offenders, even when they are at a very low point.
Because teamwork is essential in this setting, you must be committed to supporting colleagues and working as one coordinated team.
Working pattern
This post requires shift work, including weekends.
Training, growth, and rewards
Successful candidates will receive thorough training and will have access to progression opportunities, including routes into specialist areas.
Benefits include 25 days of annual leave, childcare vouchers, season ticket loans, retail discounts, an Employee Assistance Programme, and a Cycle to Work scheme.
Beyond the practical benefits, the job also offers the satisfaction of helping offenders make progress and rebuild their lives.
How to apply
If your experience and qualities match the role, you are encouraged to apply.
