Role Overview
This position is for a Personal Support Worker serving clients across the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario. The role focuses on helping individuals remain safe, comfortable, and as self-reliant as possible, while also giving relief to family members who provide day-to-day care.

Key Duties
- Support clients with everyday personal care needs, including grooming, dressing, and bathing.
- Help with meal planning and meal preparation.
- Assist with mobility, moving safely, and transfers.
- Carry out light domestic tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and dishwashing.
- Provide certain functions that have already been taught and authorized by a regulated health professional, within the limits of the client’s care plan.
- Observe and report any changes in a client’s health, behaviour, or condition.
- Maintain valid driving credentials and have access to a vehicle or reliable, quick transit access.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completion of a Personal Support Worker certificate from a recognized and approved institution.
- Acceptable related credentials include RN, RPN, DSW, HCA, or Personal Attendant certification.
- RN or RPN students are eligible if they have successfully completed at least one year of study.
- Internationally trained nurses, midwives, or physicians may also be considered.
- Graduates of a paramedic program are eligible.
- English reading, writing, and speaking skills equivalent to a Grade 10 level are required.
- Weekend availability, including rotating weekends, is required.
- Ability to travel between assignments in the assigned service area is necessary.
- Strong commitment to client-centered and family-centered care is expected.
- Must be comfortable supporting a diverse client group, including older adults, people with physical challenges, and clients living with mental health conditions.
- Must be able to identify safety issues, communicate effectively, and use a computer and/or mobile device for work-related tasks.
- Sound judgment, independent working ability, and cooperation within an interdisciplinary team are important.
- Immunizations for measles, rubella, and varicella are strongly recommended, and hepatitis B prophylaxis immunization is also strongly encouraged.
- Tuberculosis screening is required where applicable, such as in long-term care settings.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification is considered an advantage.
- Ability to communicate in a second language is an asset.
- Registration in good standing with the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) is an added advantage.
