Description de l'emploi

About Karbon

Karbon is a leading global provider of AI-driven practice management software built for accounting firms. Its cloud platform helps accounting teams collaborate more effectively and operate with greater efficiency every day. The company serves customers in 40 countries and has grown into a distributed workforce across the US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Philippines. Karbon is well-funded, holds the #1 position on G2, is scaling quickly, and is known for a people-first culture recognized by Great Place To Work® certification and inclusion on Fortune magazine’s Best Small Workplaces™ list.

The People team is a high-performing group focused on supporting Karbonites and living the company values. The organization is seeking an operational leader who is deeply AI-native, builds scalable systems, and views agentic workflows as the foundation of modern People Operations. Reporting to the VP of People, this role oversees the operational core of hiring, onboarding, and employee support across six countries, with clear potential to grow into leadership of a broader People pillar.

This position is intended for someone who naturally looks at manual work and asks which agent should handle it first. The ideal candidate does not simply use AI tools; they design the workflows, build the agents, and create the systems that enable a lean People team to operate like a much larger one. Comfort with multi-country HR compliance must be matched by practical capability in prompt engineering, integrations, and agent orchestration.

This is not an administrative coordination job or a ticket-handling role. The focus is on designing how the work runs, not personally completing every task when an agent can take it on. The role owns the operational engine across People Ops, with an important Talent Acquisition component centered on forecasting, reporting, and data quality, plus embedded ownership of benefits. Success will be measured by how much of the engine can run without direct human involvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, manage, and continuously improve the full People Ops and TA operating model, using AI agents and agentic workflows as the standard execution layer for onboarding, offboarding, employee changes, and recruiting processes.
  • Create and launch AI agents that can independently handle recurring operational tasks such as onboarding coordination, compliance paperwork, offer letter preparation, interview scheduling, and first-line employee support.
  • Use AI to monitor HR compliance across six operating regions, including automated checks that identify risks, highlight regulatory updates, and keep entity-level obligations current without manual oversight.
  • Develop AI-supported reporting and analytics for People and TA, including live dashboards, funnel visibility, and operational metrics that leaders can use proactively without requesting ad hoc reports.
  • Operate the HRIS, ATS, and wider People technology stack as one connected, AI-augmented ecosystem, assessing new tools based on agent compatibility and API-first design.
  • Support Talent Acquisition through pipeline forecasting, recruiting data accuracy, and funnel reporting, while helping hiring managers adopt AI-enabled ways of tracking and interpreting recruitment data.
  • Own US benefits administration and vendor coordination, using AI to simplify open enrollment, track eligibility, and generate usage insights that shape benefits decisions.
  • Improve employee experience at scale by identifying friction points across the lifecycle early and deploying agents or automated workflows to resolve them before they become support requests.
  • Lead documentation and knowledge management efforts for People Ops, ensuring workflows are documented clearly for both human users and automated systems.
  • Work with Finance, IT, and Legal through AI-enabled workflows for activities such as headcount planning, access provisioning, and contract or policy management.
  • Coach the broader People team on AI literacy, agent building, and automation practices, helping establish an AI-forward operating model.
  • Own governance for People-related AI use, making sure agent use is compliant, ethical, and appropriate for handling sensitive employee and candidate information worldwide.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in People Operations or HR Operations, with some leadership or team lead exposure.
  • Experience in SaaS or another high-growth technology environment is required; familiarity with the operating realities of a global, multi-entity People function is important.
  • Strong practical experience with AI tools, agent builders, and agentic workflows, including building and maintaining agents that perform real operational work.
  • Solid technical instincts and comfort with APIs, integrations, automation tools such as Zapier, Make, or n8n, and prompt engineering as a core capability.
  • Multi-country HR operations experience is preferred, ideally across some mix of the US, UK, Australia/NZ, Canada, and the Philippines.
  • A track record of redesigning processes from the ground up, with a strong preference for automation over adding headcount.
  • Working knowledge of US benefits administration, including open enrollment, carrier management, and compliance fundamentals such as ACA and ERISA.
  • Working knowledge of HR compliance across multiple jurisdictions, along with sound judgment about when a task can be automated and when human review is necessary.
  • Comfort with data and metrics, including building dashboards, reading funnel performance, and using AI to deepen analysis.
  • Systems thinking across People Ops, Talent Acquisition, and Benefits, with the ability to design how those areas work together.
  • A player-coach approach: able to work independently, build and ship solutions directly, and grow into broader leadership as the company scales.
  • High integrity, emotional intelligence, and strong discretion when handling sensitive employee and candidate data.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI’s impact on People functions and a clear point of view on what an AI-native HR operation should look like.

Why Karbon

  • Opportunity to gain international experience across the USA, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Canada, and the Philippines.
  • Flexible paid time off, with an encouraged three weeks of usage each year.
  • Company-paid medical coverage for the employee and eligible spouse/partner and dependents.
  • Company-paid dental and vision coverage for the employee and eligible spouse/partner and dependents.
  • Fully company-funded short-term and long-term disability coverage.
  • Fully company-paid life insurance.
  • 401(k) plan with company matching.

  • Work-from-home stipend.

  • Opportunity to join a fast-growing company that promotes strong performers from within.
