Online Middle School Math Tutor

Overview

This opportunity is for teachers who want to provide virtual tutoring to K-12 students across the United States, with a current focus on Middle School Math. The work is part-time, flexible, and fully online, so there is no classroom-based requirement. The organization supports high-need learners and aims to expand educational equity by connecting skilled teachers with students who need extra help.

Compensation

Typical pay is up to $32.00 per hour of tutoring on a prorated basis, plus a 10% bonus. That combined amount is intended to cover the tutoring session itself, light prep time, early log-in before the session begins, and session notes. For a one-hour tutoring session, the total comes to $35.30. In some engagements where lesson materials are provided and the instructional load is lighter, the rate may be adjusted to about $28-$30 per hour of tutoring plus a 10% bonus. In other engagements, the pay may range from $28-$36 per instructional hour plus 10% bonus.

Role Details

Teachers admitted to the community may express interest in and accept tutoring opportunities as they become available. These engagements are not full-time roles. They may run for about 14 to 30 weeks and usually require only a few hours per week. Staffing is not guaranteed, but opportunities are generally shared with the teacher community first. Assignments often align with school semesters, trimesters, or quarters.

Responsibilities

You will lead small-group online instruction for students in grades K-12, with a strong emphasis on middle school math tutoring. You may also support summer academies, remediation programs, and other school-partner engagements.

Requirements

Candidates should have prior experience as a teacher in the United States, along with classroom experience teaching math. You should also be comfortable teaching middle school math in a virtual setting and have working familiarity with Google Classroom and Zoom. Experience teaching online is required.

Preferred Experience

Extra consideration may be given to educators with experience in remediation, intervention, or small-group instruction, as well as those with secondary math experience, SPED or ELL background, bilingual ability, AP teaching experience, a commitment to educational equity, or an active teaching credential.
