About the Opportunity
This is a chance to join a long-established, privately owned wine distribution business in New Zealand with strong growth ambitions. The company is supported by an Australian parent with vineyard ownership and significant experience across the New Zealand wine sector. You will join a formal two-director board and play a strategic role in refining the commercial growth approach across hospitality, grocery, and independent retail channels. The position is focused on governance and commercial direction, supporting a capable General Manager to deliver execution rather than handling daily operations yourself.
What You’ll Bring
The ideal candidate will come from a privately owned business at GM or CEO level and bring substantial experience in FMCG or consumer goods, particularly across New Zealand’s key sales channels such as grocery, on-premise, and independent retail. You should have a strong record of creating commercial strategy from the ground up and taking full ownership of outcomes, with experience building businesses rather than simply implementing pre-set plans. Prior board or governance exposure is expected. An Institute of Directors qualification would be advantageous. A solid understanding of supply chain operations and a genuine interest in wine or beverages are also important.
