About the Role
This position is for a dependable team member who supports the back-end flow of merchandise in a busy retail environment. The role is hands-on and active, with responsibilities that include sorting, tagging, pricing, organizing, and preparing inventory so the store floor stays stocked and customer-ready. The ideal candidate is upbeat, organized, comfortable in a fast-moving setting, and able to contribute wherever the team needs support.
Availability
This job requires flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, closing shifts, and shifts across days and evenings.
Compensation
The role pays $18.25 per hour.
Key Duties
- Review incoming merchandise by sorting, inspecting, grading, tagging, and pricing items according to company guidelines.
- Arrange clothing and goods on rolling racks by type, size, and colour.
- Help with donation handling, store floor resets, inventory replenishment, and preparation for sale events.
- Carry out daily processing tasks to keep merchandise moving efficiently through the system.
- Apply accurate bin labels and follow colour-tag rotation practices to keep stock current.
- Work quickly while still meeting quality expectations.
- Keep the processing area tidy, safe, and free of obstructions.
- Follow all required PPE, lifting, and workplace safety procedures.
- Report any hazards or incidents promptly and help maintain safe access in work areas.
- Take part in daily team check-ins and communicate effectively with teammates and leaders.
- Assist with general cleaning and support a respectful, efficient workplace.
Candidate Profile
The company is looking for someone who pays close attention to detail, stays composed in a high-energy environment, and works well with others. A positive attitude, clear communication, and a willingness to help wherever needed are key to success in this role.
Preferred Background
Prior exposure to warehouse work, inventory handling, retail backroom operations, thrift merchandise, or basic grading of second-hand items would be an advantage. Familiarity with PPE and basic health and safety routines is also helpful.
Physical and Work Environment
This role involves frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, twisting, and moving throughout the shift. It also requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push or pull rolling containers weighing up to 500 lbs. The work environment may include dust, dirt, insects, garbage, occasional rodents, noise, and fluctuating temperatures. Regular interaction with customers and the public is also part of the job.
