Description de l'emploi
About the organisation
The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is an independent regulator for Queensland’s building and construction sector. Its work helps protect the public, support industry, strengthen confidence in the system, and contribute to safer homes, better communities, jobs and economic stability. QBCC also supports a $69 billion industry through consumer protection, industry support, the Home Warranty Scheme and education delivery. The organisation focuses on fair, transparent decision-making and services that build trust in a sustainable industry.
About the opportunity
This role is an opportunity to shape how data and artificial intelligence influence decision-making across QBCC. You will lead a complex cloud data warehouse, turning raw information into secure and trusted insights suitable for public sector scrutiny. Working with BI analysts and specialists, you will design, build and deliver AI solutions from end to end, set expectations for scalable and well-governed architecture, and develop pipelines and platforms that support smarter ways of working.
The position calls for a calm, people-centred leader who can work through complexity, collaborate with government stakeholders, and deliver outcomes that can stand up to scrutiny. A curious and emotionally intelligent approach is valued, along with the ability to stay composed under pressure and guide solutions through uncertainty.
Work location and flexibility
The role is based in Brisbane. Flexible working arrangements may be available on application, including remote work from a regional QBCC office in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Maryborough, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba or Gold Coast, depending on availability. If you work from a regional office, travel to the Brisbane base may be required.
What you will do
You will lead the delivery of secure, trusted data and AI capability across QBCC and help move AI concepts into production in a governed, practical way. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with stakeholder management and delivery oversight.
What you bring
You should have experience creating AI and data solutions on platforms such as AWS, Snowflake or similar technologies. You will understand how to deliver solutions that are scalable, secure and trusted, while maintaining strong governance and risk discipline. Experience in government or the public sector would be highly regarded. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline will strengthen your application.
