Role overview

This is a full-time, site-based position supporting a professional operations and customer service team at a customer location in Shotton, Flintshire, CH5 2NH. The post involves working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 09:30 to 18:30. The offered pay is £27,000 to £28,000, with the final figure depending on experience.

What you will do

As a Load Safety Checker, you will help ensure that visiting LGV road hauliers comply with site safety and load-security standards. You will act as a visible on-site point of contact for drivers and support safe loading and unloading activities.

• Welcome incoming LGV drivers, carry out site inductions, and deliver safety briefings.
• Apply and monitor customer standards for load safety and load restraint.
• Oversee drivers while they are on site and make sure site safety rules are followed.
• Inspect trailers before loading or unloading takes place.
• Support LGV drivers in getting trailers ready for loading.
• Before departures, verify the loading arrangement and check restraint equipment.
• Record and report any instances of non-compliance or other issues.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of health and safety practices in road haulage, including awareness of relevant HSE regulations. Experience with LGV driver processes and trailer types will be valuable. A full, clean driving licence is required. You should also be confident communicating with others, comfortable working on your own with limited supervision, and capable of using basic IT tools. Because the role is site-based, you must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

A CCNSG Safety Passport would be an advantage, although it is not stated as mandatory.
