IT Support Engineer

Role overview

This part-time IT Support Engineer position is based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and follows a hybrid setup with a mix of on-site attendance and work-from-home flexibility. The person in this role will act as a first- and second-level support resource for staff, helping resolve day-to-day technology issues and keeping business systems running smoothly.

What you will do

You will handle support requests, troubleshoot technical issues, and assist users with hardware, software, and network-related problems. The role also includes managing user access, installing and updating applications and systems, monitoring system health and security notifications, and supporting office equipment and business software.

You will document problems and their solutions, pass more complex cases to senior IT staff or third-party vendors when needed, and work closely with colleagues to reduce downtime. Clear communication with users and ongoing improvement of IT procedures and documentation are also part of the job.

Qualifications and technical background

Applicants should have strong experience in technical support and help desk operations, with the ability to respond to user needs, resolve common IT issues, and explain solutions clearly to non-technical users. A background in information technology and system administration is expected, including account administration, software setup, and basic server or network support.

Strong troubleshooting ability is important, especially for identifying and fixing hardware, software, and connectivity issues using a structured approach. A diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent hands-on experience is also acceptable.

Familiarity with Windows and/or macOS environments, office productivity software, and core networking concepts such as TCP/IP, routers, switches, and wireless access points will be useful. Good customer service, teamwork, prioritization, and adaptability in a hybrid work environment are also important.

Professional certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications are considered an advantage. Candidates should also be comfortable maintaining documentation, following security and data protection practices, and adjusting to changing business and technology requirements.
