Role overview

As an IT Change Manager, you will own and improve the end-to-end IT change management process in line with ITIL. You will oversee how change requests are received, assessed, coordinated, approved, implemented, and reviewed afterward, with the aim of reducing risk and service disruption for critical business systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Run and continuously enhance the IT change management workflow, covering intake, orchestration, impact analysis, approval, implementation, and post-change review.
  • Coordinate the change schedule across applications, infrastructure, and cloud services, and resolve dependencies and clashes in partnership with project, operations, partner management, and sales teams.
  • Design, document, and improve IT service and support processes such as incident, problem, service request, and change management, with emphasis on standardization and automation.
  • Prepare and lead the Change Advisory Board (CAB) and other governance forums, ensuring that decisions are transparent and that risks, approvals, rollback plans, test plans, and outcomes are fully recorded.
  • Track and report on process and change metrics such as success rates, lead times, and process compliance, then turn insights into concrete improvement actions.
  • Support product owners, project managers, and technical teams in following change and process standards, and help build a culture of disciplined change and continuous improvement.

  • Several years of experience in IT change management, IT service management, or IT process management within a corporate or cloud/managed services setting.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL-based change and service management, plus hands-on experience with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow or Jira Service Management, ideally backed by ITIL or an equivalent certification.
  • Practical experience in mapping, analyzing, and improving IT processes using methods such as BPMN, along with KPI-driven problem identification and optimization.
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking, a structured and solution-focused working style, and the ability to balance governance requirements with pragmatic delivery in agile environments, ideally with DevOps or similar methods.
  • Very strong communication and facilitation skills, with confidence working across all seniority levels and leading CAB sessions, workshops, conflict resolution, and escalation handling.
  • Fluency in German and English.
