HR Systems and Reporting Analyst

Role overview

New Zealand Customs Service is seeking a motivated HR data professional to take on a part-time HR Systems and Reporting Analyst position in Auckland. This is a 20-hour-per-week onsite role for someone who enjoys working with HR systems, reporting, and data in a complex, service-focused environment.

What you will do

In this position, you will be responsible for HR reporting and analysis for both internal teams and external stakeholders. You will also support the management of important HR systems and assist the payroll function.

Experience and capability needed

The ideal person will bring a background in HRIS, payroll, and data analysis, along with experience supporting managers with reporting and insights. Experience in central government or a similar business setting would be an advantage. You should be confident using Microsoft Excel at an advanced level, and have practical experience with SQL select queries, Power BI reporting, and VBA macros.

You will also need to show a strong customer service mindset, a willingness to improve processes, and the ability to suggest and implement better ways of working. A practical, solution-oriented attitude is important, as is the ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver within deadlines. Strong communication skills are essential, especially when explaining complex data to different audiences.

To work at Customs, you must be a New Zealand citizen or a New Zealand permanent resident. A verifiable background history suitable for security clearance is required, and a clear police record is necessary.
