Role Overview
This full-time permanent position is for a guest-facing Hotel Driver / Porter based in Galway, County Galway, Ireland. The role sits within a luxury 5-star hotel environment and combines staff transportation, porter support, and assistance to the Front Office team.
The position offers an annual salary of €38,000, a 40-hour working week spread across 5 days out of 7, and no night shifts. The hotel also provides in-house training and professional development, including support for suitable candidates who are working toward a Category D (Bus) licence.
Key Duties
- Transport hotel employees safely between designated pick-up and drop-off points and the hotel.
- Greet guests in a courteous, warm, and professional manner.
- Assist arriving and departing guests with luggage and porter support.
- Work closely with the Front Office team to handle arrivals, departures, and general guest needs.
- Keep the shuttle vehicle clean, presentable, and safe at all times.
- Complete routine vehicle inspections and promptly raise any maintenance issues.
- Follow road traffic laws, health and safety standards, and hotel operating procedures.
- Provide consistently high levels of service to guests, visitors, and coworkers.
- Take on additional operational tasks as needed to help the hotel run smoothly each day.
Candidate Profile
The hotel is seeking someone who enjoys working with people, delivers strong customer service, and is confident in a hospitality setting. Previous experience in hospitality is preferred, and background in a Hotel Driver, Porter, Concierge, or similar guest-facing role is an advantage.
Applicants with solid hospitality experience who are ready for the next step in their career are encouraged to apply. A full, clean driving licence is required. A Category D (Bus) licence is strongly preferred, but candidates without it may still be considered if they are willing to complete the hotel’s internal training programme to obtain one.
Strong communication and interpersonal ability, a polished appearance, a positive and adaptable approach, and the capability to work both independently and as part of a team are all important. Candidates must also have full legal permission to live and work in the Republic of Ireland.
Working Arrangements
This role is permanent and full-time, with 40 hours per week over 5 days out of 7. There are no night shifts.
