Role Overview
The Hostess for Butterfly Room is responsible for creating a welcoming first impression, managing guest flow, supporting reservations, and helping ensure smooth daily restaurant operations. The role requires strong guest engagement, attention to detail, polished communication, and the ability to work closely with the restaurant and wider hotel team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver the brand promise consistently through attentive, high-quality guest service.
- Represent the restaurant and Rosewood Hotels & Resorts professionally at all times.
- Handle guest and associate concerns quickly and effectively.
- Maintain positive, respectful interactions with guests and colleagues.
- Support hotel and restaurant service standards in day-to-day operations.
- Assist guests before and during their dining experience to improve satisfaction and loyalty.
- Identify guest needs and suggest suitable restaurant features and services.
- Welcome guests, seat them appropriately, and manage arrivals and departures smoothly.
- Highlight special attention guests to the team and management.
- Build rapport with regular guests and ensure they are recognized warmly.
- Work collaboratively with other restaurant colleagues in a flexible and supportive way.
- Answer incoming calls courteously and accurately using proper telephone etiquette.
- Provide current and reliable information about the restaurant, menus, and hotel offerings.
- Help optimize table occupancy while managing guest mix appropriately.
- Stay aware of upcoming booking restrictions and special table allocation rules.
- Track reservations confirmed by phone or email and keep records in an organized manner.
- Collect credit card details or other payment information when needed and handle them correctly.
- Attend briefings, tastings, and training sessions to learn menu items, product knowledge, and service standards.
- Complete required assessments and tests as part of ongoing learning.
- Understand the service flow during each meal period and adapt responsibilities when needed.
- Follow opening and closing checklists carefully.
- Perform cashier duties and follow Micros cashiering procedures.
- Reconcile cash and credit card transactions and transfer cash to the back office safe.
- Review OpenTable reservations and print the booking sheet for the briefing.
- Share a detailed handover of reservations with the manager or supervisor on duty.
- Keep the booking system updated to manage arrivals and departures efficiently.
- Greet every arriving guest warmly and leave departing guests with a polished final impression.
- Maintain excellent grooming, hygiene, and personal presentation standards.
- Continue improving skills through training, assessment, and performance feedback.
- Contribute fresh, creative ideas that support the success of the operation.
- Keep stationery and menus organized and supplied for restaurant use.
- Adapt to changes in food and beverage operations as required by the business or market.
- Stay informed about hotel occupancy, arrivals, departures, and special attention guests.
- Remain knowledgeable about local services, attractions, and events in Doha to answer guest questions accurately.
