Description de l'emploi

Role overview

As a High Risk Team Officer with Queensland Government, you will support state-wide High Risk Teams by sharing information, completing safety assessments, coordinating planning, and working closely with the broader Integrated Service Response and domestic and family violence service sector. The role is based in South Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, with travel required to Moreton Bay, Redlands, Logan, and Ipswich as needed.

In this position, you will provide trauma-informed, timely, and high-quality support to high-risk domestic and family violence victims who are seeking financial assistance under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009 (VOCCA). You will also develop a strong understanding of domestic and family violence dynamics and the needs of victims within Victim Assist Queensland (VAQ).

Key responsibilities

  • Apply cultural capability in practice, or actively work toward building it, so the workplace remains inclusive and reflects the Human Rights Act 2019 while supporting departmental initiatives and community partnerships that protect cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Take part in High Risk Teams to improve victim safety and wellbeing, while working within the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 and the DFV Information Sharing Guidelines.
  • Use evidence-based judgement under VOCCA when assessing eligibility for financial assistance for domestic and family violence victims.
  • Manage financial assistance applications efficiently, maintain accurate case records, and complete delegated duties when required.
  • Work with government and non-government partners to increase awareness of Victim Assist services and explain how clients can access support.
  • Develop and sustain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen the handling of financial assistance applications and the services delivered by Victim Assist.
  • Strengthen Victim Assist’s ability to respond with empathy and effectiveness to DFV victims by promoting victim rights, needs, and available support services.
  • Look for practical ways to improve service delivery by sharing ideas, seeking input, and using data to guide better outcomes.
  • Attend stakeholder networks and meetings to support and promote the work of High Risk Teams.
