Full Time Housekeeping/Laundry

Role Overview

This position is responsible for carrying out laundry and housekeeping tasks that support a clean, orderly, and sanitary nursing home environment. The role helps ensure residents have access to fresh linen, well-maintained clothing, and a safe, hygienic setting.

Key Duties

• Keep an adequate supply of clean linen available so residents receive proper comfort and care.
• Inspect linen regularly, remove damaged or stained items from circulation, and ensure all linen remains in good condition.
• Gather residents’ laundry each day, or more often when required.
• Tag new residents’ clothing items as needed.
• Sort, pre-treat, wash, dry, and fold clothing and linen items.
• Return cleaned laundry to residents’ rooms.
• Follow all hygiene and sanitation procedures connected to laundry operations.
• Track and maintain laundry supply inventory.
• Operate laundry machinery and supplies carefully and safely.
• Escalate any laundry equipment problems to the Administrator.

Qualifications

A GED or high school diploma is required. One year of relevant experience is preferred. The role requires the ability to read and follow laundry and housekeeping instructions, use basic math, and think through problems independently while knowing when to ask for help. No certifications are needed.

Physical and Work Conditions

This job may involve lifting or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds from time to time. The employee will regularly need to sit, stand, walk, speak, and use sight and hearing while performing duties. The work includes frequent use of industrial washers, dryers, and related cleaning equipment. The usual noise level in the environment is low to moderate.
