Fresh Category Manager

Role overview

Meituan is hiring a Fresh Category Manager in Doha, Qatar to take ownership of a fresh food category and help drive business growth through better assortment, procurement, supply performance, and category execution.

Key responsibilities

• Take charge of one or more fresh categories such as fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood, or dairy, and build category plans along with purchasing strategies.
• Review market movement, customer demand, and competitor activity to improve the product mix and support stronger sales and margin performance.
• Oversee supply chain coordination, maintain supplier partnerships, negotiate buying terms, manage costs, and improve sourcing channels.
• Track inventory levels and sell-through rates, then design promotions that help move stock faster and reduce spoilage or wastage.
• Work closely with procurement, logistics, and marketing teams to keep supply flowing smoothly, maintain product quality, and support market-facing promotions.
• Keep up to date with industry developments, regulations, and policy changes to ensure compliance and to continuously improve procurement and operating processes.
• Guide, coach, and develop team members to improve capability and overall execution efficiency.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or higher is required, ideally in marketing, supply chain management, food science, or a similar discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in category management or procurement within the fresh food sector.
• Background in retail, quick commerce, e-commerce, supermarkets, or hypermarkets is preferred.
• Solid knowledge of fresh food market trends, supply chain systems, and category management practices.
• Strong capability in negotiation, data analysis, and understanding market dynamics.
• Good communication, coordination, and people management experience.
• A strong sense of ownership, the ability to perform under pressure, commercial awareness, and an innovative mindset.
