  • Support the application of partial exemption rules in an insurance environment where VAT is generally exempt.
  • Keep VAT records, reconciliations, and supporting paperwork organised and up to date.
  • Help calculate and monitor VAT that can and cannot be recovered.
  • Prepare and post accruals and prepayments.
  • Support month-end close activities within agreed deadlines.
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and maintain backing documentation.
  • Provide general support to the finance team on ad hoc tasks and projects.
  • Help improve finance processes and internal controls.
  • Develop effective working relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant, or comparable finance role.
  • Solid practical knowledge of accounts payable and bank reconciliations.
  • Experience preparing accruals and prepayments.
  • Exposure to VAT return preparation.
  • Confident using Excel and finance systems.
  • Strong accuracy and a close eye for detail.
  • Part-qualified AAT study or similar qualification path is desirable, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Good understanding of financial controls and compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Clear communication and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively.

Benefits

  • Supportive environment with opportunities for internal promotion.
  • Inclusive and diverse workplace culture.
  • 22 days of annual leave plus 9 bank holidays, rising to 30 days pro rata.
  • Your birthday off.
  • Bupa dental insurance.

  • Option to work in a hybrid or fully remote setup.

Why This Role

This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to develop further within the insurance sector and work with experienced, forward-thinking colleagues in a business focused on helping people reach their potential.
