Role overview

We are hiring a meticulous and driven Container Inspector / Estimator to join the Dublin operations team. The position focuses on examining shipping containers, recording any damage or wear, preparing repair quotations, and making sure all work aligns with international safety and quality requirements.

This role plays an important part in keeping operations efficient, controlling costs, and supporting a high level of customer service in a busy logistics setting.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out visual and structural checks on containers as they enter and leave the site.
• Assess and record damage, wear, and faults in line with IICL standards or customer-specific requirements.
• Build accurate repair estimates using dedicated container management tools and software.
• Work closely with maintenance and repair teams to prioritise jobs and keep turnaround times on track.
• Follow health, safety, and environmental rules throughout the inspection process.
• Take photographs of container damage and keep thorough inspection documentation.
• Communicate with clients, depot supervisors, managers, and transport coordinators about container condition and repair progress.
• Track container movement and inventory through internal systems.
• Keep up to date with current industry practices, repair standards, and applicable legislation.

Required knowledge and experience

• Prior work as a container inspector, depot estimator, or in a similar shipping, logistics, or transport position is strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of container formats such as standard, reefer, and high cube units, along with repair standards like IICL.
• Strong accuracy and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Clear written and spoken communication skills.
• Comfort using inspection and reporting software, plus everyday computer tools such as Microsoft Office and depot management systems.
• Ability to work outside in changing weather conditions.
• A valid driving licence may be necessary depending on site access requirements.
• Forklift certification or experience with yard equipment is an advantage.
• Must be eligible to work in Ireland.
