Role overview
This position is for a Civil & Structural Engineering Lead supporting an EPC phase project in Qatar. The role centers on guiding the contractor’s delivery of civil and structural engineering scope, ensuring the work is technically sound, executable, and aligned with project requirements from design through installation.

Key purpose of the role
- Direct oversight of the EPC contractor’s civil and structural engineering performance across design, materials, specifications, and execution approach.
- Responsibility for planning and progressing detailed design, procurement, and installation activities.
- Verification that project procedures and technical requirements are developed correctly and implemented throughout the EPC phase in line with the project scope.
- Cross-functional coordination with other disciplines so the design supports the complete production lifecycle.
Reporting and working relationships
The role reports to the Engineering Area Manager (Field) and has no direct reports.
Regular interaction is expected with the Engineering Manager, Field Engineering Area Manager, and discipline leads in Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation, Telecom, and Loss Prevention. The position also coordinates with Operations Advisors, Project Engineers, Interface Management teams, and works closely with Operations, SEQ (Safety, Environment & Quality), and Engineering teams.
Scope and major challenges
The job includes reviewing and confirming civil and structural deliverables such as reinforced concrete structures, steel structures, underground facilities, as well as buildings and architectural works.
Main challenges include managing EPC execution and related civil/structural engineering activities so delivery stays aligned from award stage through Provisional Acceptance, building a strong and cooperative relationship with the EPC contractor, and maintaining clear communication with Operations and SEQ to keep engineering delivery smooth.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil & Structural Engineering is required.
Experience and technical background
- At least 8 years of professional experience in Civil & Structural Engineering.
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in the Oil & Gas sector.
- At least 1 year in a supervisory, leadership, or contractor-oversight role.
- Hands-on experience managing contractors, subcontractors, or vendors.
- Prior exposure to large LNG projects or comparable major industrial projects is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of engineering design standards, specifications, and codes, along with safety and compliance requirements.
- Experience with onshore facilities, utility systems, construction, and operations is important.
