Electrical Design Engineer (Building Projects) - UPDA Certified

Role Overview

Levante Holding is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support building projects in Qatar. The position sits within the MEP / Electrical Design team and focuses on producing compliant, efficient, and sustainable electrical design solutions for construction projects.

This role requires at least 10 years of experience, with Qatar experience being mandatory, and an active UPDA/MMUP certification.

Core Purpose

The engineer will be responsible for creating, coordinating, and refining electrical systems for building developments while ensuring alignment with project requirements, Qatar regulations, and relevant international standards.

Electrical Design Duties

• Develop electrical design calculations and drawings covering load analysis, lighting layouts, power distribution, earthing and lightning protection, and single-line diagrams.
• Design ELV systems such as fire alarm, data, CCTV, and access control networks.
• Focus on solutions that are technically sound, efficient, and cost-conscious.

Coordination Responsibilities

• Work closely with architectural, structural, and MEP teams to align design inputs.
• Identify and resolve clashes through BIM-based coordination tools such as Revit and Navisworks.
• Check and verify design submissions received from other stakeholders.

Authority Approvals

• Prepare and manage submissions to relevant authorities including Kahramaa and Civil Defence Qatar.
• Ensure the design complies with Qatar Construction Specifications and applicable local regulations.
• Track approvals, NOCs, and permit progress until closure.

Documentation and Review

• Review shop drawings, material submittals, and technical documents.
• Prepare design reports, technical specifications, and bills of quantities.
• Maintain accurate document control and version tracking throughout the project lifecycle.

Construction Support

• Provide technical assistance during construction and site implementation.
• Address RFIs and resolve technical issues as they arise.
• Support testing and commissioning activities.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and have at least 10 years of electrical design experience. Qatar experience is required, preferably in a consultancy environment. UPDA/MMUP certification is mandatory. Experience with residential, commercial, or mixed-use building projects is expected.

Technical knowledge should include IEC, BS, and NFPA standards, along with hands-on capability in AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux/Relux, and ETAP. Strong communication, coordination, and multitasking skills are also important, especially when working to deadlines across multiple projects.
