Role Overview

The Site EHS Advisor will oversee the implementation, upkeep, and ongoing improvement of environmental, health, and safety standards on a designated project site. The role is central to maintaining compliance with Irish legislation, company procedures, client expectations, and accepted industry practice.

This position is also responsible for strengthening a preventive safety culture, reducing risk, and supporting the health and wellbeing of everyone working on site.

Health, Safety and Leadership

  • Put company EHS policies, procedures, and site-specific safety plans into practice.
  • Apply the ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems on site.
  • Help embed the organisation’s safety values, vision, and objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to Irish health and safety law, including the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and the Construction Regulations 2013.
  • Carry out routine inspections, audits, and site walkthroughs to spot and control hazards.
  • Oversee contractor performance and guide teams toward safe working methods.
  • Offer practical advice and direction on health and safety matters to managers, safety representatives, employees, and subcontractors where relevant.
  • Stay highly visible on site through daily presence, observing work activity and actively engaging with operatives and subcontractors.
  • Identify unsafe conditions or behaviours and intervene promptly to correct them.

Risk, Incident and Training Duties

  • Review and coordinate approval of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
  • Help site teams create and apply effective control measures.
  • Take part in design and planning reviews to identify EHS risks at an early stage.
  • Support or lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Prepare detailed investigation reports and suggest corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor the completion of corrective actions and share lessons learned with the wider team.
  • Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, focused safety briefings, and topic-based safety training.
  • Encourage strong safety behaviour through active engagement and visible leadership.
  • Support behavioural safety initiatives and worker participation programmes.

Environmental, Reporting and Administration

  • Ensure environmental controls are in place, including waste segregation, spill prevention, and noise and dust management.
  • Track compliance with environmental laws and the company’s sustainability objectives.
  • Assist with environmental audits and reporting.
  • Keep EHS records accurate and up to date, including inspection logs, training records, and incident documentation.
  • Compile weekly and monthly EHS performance reports for both project and corporate stakeholders.

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant EHS qualification such as a NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH qualification, or an equivalent award in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Management.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar EHS position, preferably in construction, engineering, pharmaceutical, or data centre environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of Irish EHS legislation and codes of practice.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and leadership abilities.
  • Full, clean driving licence required.
  • Strong IT capability, including Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to work independently and show strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships and manage stakeholders well.
