This full-time permanent position is based in Peterborough, Ontario and focuses on carrying out driver testing and licensing support services with professionalism, fairness, and accuracy.

What you will do

• Assess applicants taking G2 and G road tests.
• When qualified and needed, assess M2, M, and controlled class (ABZ) applicants as well.
• Issue road test outcomes, explain licence details, and help resolve licensing-related concerns.
• Support customers with questions and guidance about driver examination services.
• Make sure examinations are administered fairly so candidates can perform to the best of their ability.
• Deliver strong customer service throughout all driver examination interactions.
• Answer questions about licensing, confirm applicant status, explain test and retest steps, and clarify licence class information.
• Verify identity by confirming the candidate’s full name and full date of birth aloud.
• Conduct road tests to assess vehicle control, traffic law compliance, responses in stressful situations, driving rules, and safe driving habits.
• Provide clear feedback on results, errors, and areas where the candidate needs improvement.
• Complete road test evaluation paperwork.
• Travel to designated testing points when required to deliver testing and licensing services.
• For M2, M, and controlled class testing, observe riding behaviour, vehicle handling, and overall skill level.
• Administer road tests for candidates with special needs or disabilities.
• Follow all operational, safety, environmental, drug and alcohol, and quality-related regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Protect confidentiality requirements set by the ministry and the operation.
• Carry out other duties connected to the role as needed.
• Maintain a safe, healthy, and sustainable work environment at the DriveTest Centre and at travel points.
• Use equipment, materials, and protective devices correctly and in line with legal requirements.
• Stay informed about legislative, regulatory, company, and policy updates.
• Report unsafe conditions promptly.
• Comply with OHSA Part III, Section 27 duties for workers.
• Follow company policies and procedures.
• Take part in required security measures if requested by the company.
• Participate in IDEC testing and in initial and ongoing training for the road test categories you are qualified to conduct.

Requirements

• Minimum education of a GED or high school diploma.
• Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence is required.
• At least four years of driving experience, verified by the date first licensed on the Ontario driver’s licence.
• If applicable, valid Class M and/or controlled class driver’s licence.
• No more than four demerit points and no more than three violations during employment.
• Two years of customer service experience with a strong track record.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• Preferred familiarity with the DriveTest program, related legislation, regulations, and government/company policies.
• Ability to handle difficult and complex customer situations.
• Capacity to manage several tasks at once.
• Comfort handling sensitive personal information responsibly.
• Knowledge of the Highway Traffic Act and related rules, plus government and company policies relevant to advising applicants.
• Strong judgment and decision-making ability.
• Ability to manage your schedule within the limits of the assigned workday.
• Understanding of driving theory, hazard perception, accident avoidance, test policies, and driving test standards.
• Ability to observe, assess, and evaluate candidate performance consistently and accurately.
• Skill in identifying dangerous situations quickly and clearly.
• Ability to provide fair, uniform, and reliable assessments.
• Strong communication skills suited to different audiences and situations.
