Position Overview
This leadership role is with a mission-driven nonprofit organization in San Francisco, California. The position is designed for a strategic, collaborative professional who can guide program operations, support department leaders, and strengthen coordination across multiple functions. It involves working closely with executive leadership to improve organizational effectiveness, develop strong teams, and help advance initiatives that create lasting community impact. The role follows a hybrid schedule with three in-office days each week.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support several programs, departments, and service lines while helping move key organizational goals and strategic priorities forward.
- Manage department leaders through coaching, mentoring, goal alignment, performance support, and professional development.
- Work with executive leadership to improve operational efficiency, reporting structures, performance tracking, and internal processes.
- Contribute to organizational culture efforts, staff engagement initiatives, operating policies, and collaboration across teams.
- Develop and sustain relationships with community partners, funders, stakeholders, and leadership groups while supporting outward-facing engagement efforts.
- Assist with board activities, fundraising support, advocacy work, and strategic special projects.
Requirements
- Proven background leading programs, departments, teams, or service lines in nonprofit or other mission-focused organizations.
- Strong ability to lead people, including experience coaching managers, mentoring staff, and supporting team growth.
- Experience handling organizational priorities, complex initiatives, operational workflows, or performance measurement efforts.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills for both internal and external audiences.
- Comfort using CRM systems, reporting tools, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar business software.
