Detail Engineering

Role Overview

This position is for a draughts person who will support the detailing of transmission line towers, civil foundations, and related structures. The role calls for practical drafting capability, sound design judgment, and the ability to develop complete layouts while also proposing workable alternatives or improvements.

Qualification and Experience

Candidates should hold a Diploma in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or ITI in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical. A minimum of 2 years of experience in tower detailing is required. The candidate must also have at least 1 year of hands-on experience with AUTOCAD. Experience of around 3 years with BOCAD tower software is preferred.

Core Responsibilities

• Study the specifications and single-line diagrams shared by the design engineering team.
• Assess whether the detailing work is feasible once the design line diagram is received.
• Develop general arrangement drawings using AUTOCAD or BOCAD.
• Create shop drawings and prepare the bill of materials.
• Review and close the general arrangement and shop drawings.
• Issue GA and shop floor drawings for proto assembly.
• Support resolution of issues that arise from proto deviations during assembly.
• Release drawings to the factory for large-scale production.

Technical Knowledge

The role requires knowledge of drawing preparation, different tower types, tower components, insulators, tower accessories, stub and stub-setting templates used for casting stubs, and trigonometry.

Operating Network

• Internal stakeholders include the Head of Detailing, Design Engineers, Proto Managers of the factory, and the Proto Team.

Software Skills

Experience with AUTOCAD is essential. BOCAD is preferable, and familiarity with Digishop is also expected.
