Design Engineer

What you will do

• Design high-voltage and low-voltage substations.
• Develop medium-voltage and high-voltage distribution systems.
• Create control and protection circuit designs for medium-voltage switchgear.
• Support generator-related work and wider power infrastructure projects.
• Prepare control/protection schematics and physical layout drawings.
• Interpret electrical systems and project specifications accurately.
• Handle engineering change orders and contribute to product enhancements.
• Coordinate with suppliers on specifications and component selection.
• Assist projects from the design stage through commissioning.
• Produce technical documentation that meets relevant industry standards.

Candidate profile

The employer is seeking someone with a solid background in electrical power engineering who is actively engaged in substation or power systems design. A hands-on approach and experience in technically demanding electrical projects are important for success in this role.

Experience and background

• At least 5 years of experience in electrical design engineering.
• Direct experience with substation design or MV/HV electrical systems.
• Good grasp of electrical control systems and power systems.
• An electrical engineering qualification and/or an electrical trade background.
• Practical, hands-on engineering experience.
• Experience with control wiring and power station projects is a plus.
