Data Center Logistics Technician

Role overview

Microsoft is seeking a Data Center Inventory & Asset Technician to support logistics and inventory operations within its cloud infrastructure environment in Dubai. In this role, you will handle cycle counts, process inbound and outbound shipments, arrange security escorts for external vendors, and maintain accurate records for all deliveries and asset movements.

The position is part of Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I), the team behind Microsoft’s global cloud platform and services. CO+I supports products and services such as Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Microsoft Azure, while also investing in employee growth through rotation programs, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and professional certifications.

Key duties

• Carry out assigned work and escalate issues when demand is high or situations require escalation.
• Work with suppliers to start warranty claims and manage defective vendor hardware through the full RMA flow, including processing, packing, shipping, and receiving returns in line with SLA commitments.
• Use established procedures and sound judgment to complete tasks with limited direct oversight.
• Understand how individual tasks affect ticket resolution and inventory/asset management work.
• Keep inventory systems accurate and current, including configuration databases and asset repositories.
• Maintain detailed physical inventory control and staging.
• Identify, reconcile, and report inventory mismatches.
• Destroy data-bearing devices in accordance with Microsoft policies and SLA requirements when needed.
• Inform management about stock shortages and raise operational concerns promptly.
• Follow security and data handling policies at all times.
• Represent Microsoft’s culture and values in day-to-day work.

Qualifications

A high school diploma is required, along with experience in warehouse, supply chain, inventory, retail, warehouse operations, or another related field within an IT environment. Equivalent experience may also be accepted.

Applicants must be able to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements. This role includes a Microsoft Cloud Background Check at the time of hiring or transfer, and again every two years after that.

Preferred experience includes work in warehouse, supply chain, IT, or logistics settings, ideally involving heavy-load handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or chassis lifts in a large corporate environment. Equivalent experience is also considered.
