Description de l'emploi
About the role
One Stop Stores Ltd, part of the Tesco group, is hiring a Customer Service Assistant for its Kingston Upon Hull store. This role sits in a busy retail setting where each shift can bring different priorities. You will support the store’s daily running by delivering friendly customer service, replenishing stock, handling payments, and helping keep the shop looking tidy and well-presented.
Customer experience is central to this position. You will look for opportunities to improve the service customers receive, support colleagues through coaching and feedback on the job, and help maintain a safe environment for both shoppers and staff.
Key responsibilities
- Welcome customers warmly, serve them with enthusiasm, and provide a consistently helpful experience.
- Encourage shoppers to share feedback through the store’s customer survey.
- Work across multiple areas of the store, including online orders, tills, replenishment, vending, and stock routines, so tasks are completed to meet customer needs.
- Apply all training provided to work safely and follow required procedures.
- Take part in seasonal, charity, and community activity that helps build an inclusive atmosphere.
- Understand store performance and the role you play in helping the store deliver profit.
- Represent the store’s values, treat everyone with respect, and follow company policies at all times.
- Record attendance correctly by clocking in and out at the start and end of each shift.
- Protect the safety of yourself, colleagues, and customers by following security processes and using available protective equipment.
- Follow age-verification rules carefully when selling restricted products.
- Respond promptly to self-service checkout issues and explain actions to customers clearly.
- Keep the shop floor clean, orderly, and free from blocked aisles.
- At times, lead the shift when the Shift Leader and Store Manager are unavailable.
- Follow all required training to help keep the store, customers, and colleagues safe and compliant.
- If the store includes a Post Office Local, you will also handle day-to-day post office duties and must pass a Post Office financial check and a criminal conviction background check before progressing in the role.
