About the Role
The Perth Construction Team is looking for an experienced and driven Contract Administrator to help manage the commercial and contractual side of its construction projects, along with coordinating project timelines and schedules.
The preferred background is electrical, with strong technical and project management experience that can be further developed; however, applicants from other industries are also encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the project team to develop, monitor, and oversee the commercial and contractual obligations tied to the business and its projects.
- Split time between the Belmont office and a site near Mandurah, as this position operates in a hybrid arrangement.
- Build and maintain constructive working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Handle contract administration for construction projects from start-up through to completion.
- Assess, review, and negotiate contracts with clients and other relevant parties.
- Prepare and amend supplier subcontracts, including documentation for tendering and negotiating purchase agreements.
- Support the timely resolution of contract-related issues and disputes.
- Attend routine project meetings across several projects.
- Help ensure projects are managed in a proactive and controlled manner.
- Provide progress and deliverable updates to the project lead, project team, and business managers.
- Assist with monthly project reporting, flag emerging risks, opportunities, and changes, and contribute to strategic discussions.
Skills and Experience
Applicants with a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification will be looked upon favourably.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial and contract administration is preferred.
Experience in estimating would be an advantage.
Strong negotiation, communication, and organisational abilities are essential.
Knowledge of construction legislation, regulations, and industry practices is required.
The role also calls for the ability to advise on contract compliance and revise existing agreements when needed.
Excellent time management, prioritisation, and organisational discipline are important.
Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-moving environment and managing several projects at once.
A collaborative attitude and willingness to take ownership are important.
Strong computer literacy is needed, especially with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, and database tools.
