Role overview

This position is for a Commis III at a luxury hospitality property in Doha, Qatar. The role sits within the Food and Beverage & Culinary function and is a non-management, full-time position based on site.

What you will do

You will assist with everyday kitchen preparation and support food production to the required standards. Core duties include portioning, chopping, washing, peeling, measuring, mixing, cooking, and storing ingredients; preparing cold items; operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers; checking whether food is properly cooked; monitoring quality during preparation; and setting up and closing down the workstation. You will also plate food in correct portions, keep kitchen areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment clean and sanitized, and verify that appliances and food are kept at the right temperature.

Work standards and conduct

The role requires strict adherence to company policies, food safety practices, security procedures, and quality standards. You are expected to report maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions promptly, complete required safety training and certifications, maintain a neat and professional appearance, protect confidential information and company property, communicate professionally, build positive working relationships, and support teammates in meeting shared goals. The job may also involve other duties assigned by supervisors.

Physical requirements

This position involves standing, sitting, or walking for long periods or for an entire shift. You should be able to reach overhead and below the knees, bend, twist, pull, and stoop, and handle objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.

Qualifications

The preferred education is a high school diploma or GED-equivalent. At least 1 year of related work experience is preferred. No supervisory experience is required, and no license or certification is specified.
