Role Overview

This position is for a Commis I in the Food & Beverage and Culinary department at a property in Lusail, Qatar. It is a full-time, non-management role based onsite. The job focuses on preparing dishes to the required recipe, quality, and presentation standards while supporting smooth kitchen operations and consistent guest satisfaction.

Key Duties

• Prepare specialty dishes and substitute items as needed.
• Control oven, broiler, grill, and roaster temperatures to ensure proper cooking results.
• Move frozen products to the refrigerator for safe thawing.
• Plate food correctly and maintain required portions, arrangement, and garnishing.
• Keep food production records up to date.
• Track the quality and quantity of items being prepared.
• Coordinate with the team during peak service periods and request help when needed.
• Advise the chef about extra food that can be reused in daily specials.
• Notify service staff about specials and any menu items that are unavailable.
• Maintain food quality and follow recipe cards, quality benchmarks, presentation rules, and production checklists.
• Prepare cold food items as assigned.
• Support management with hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, evaluating, disciplining, and motivating employees.
• Act as a positive example for the team and help drive common goals.
• Follow company policies along with all safety and security procedures.
• Report maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to a supervisor.
• Complete required safety training and certifications.
• Keep uniforms and personal appearance clean and professional.
• Protect confidential information and company property.
• Respond proactively to guest service needs.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and guests.
• Build cooperative working relationships and respond appropriately to coworkers’ concerns.
• Maintain the organization’s quality standards and expectations.
• Perform physical tasks such as standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, and lifting or moving objects up to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Carry out other tasks reasonably assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

• Technical, trade, or vocational school education is preferred.
• At least 3 years of relevant work experience is required.
• No prior supervisory experience is needed.
• No license or certification is required for this role.
• Candidate should be able to work full time on site in Lusail, Qatar.
• Must be comfortable following strict food quality, safety, and hygiene standards.
• Should be able to handle physical kitchen tasks and work extended periods on foot.
